What the program covers

Three modules built around techniques you'll actually use

Module One

Drawing foundations

Start with line quality, basic shapes, and proportion. You'll practice observational drawing and learn to control your tools with precision.

  • Gesture drawing techniques
  • Perspective basics for spatial thinking
  • Form construction methods
  • Value studies and lighting
Module Two

Composition and color

Build visual hierarchy through layout decisions. Work with color theory, contrast, and focal points to guide viewer attention effectively.

  • Rule of thirds and golden ratio
  • Color relationships and harmony
  • Visual weight distribution
  • Thumbnail sketching workflows
Module Three

Digital techniques

Learn layer management, brush settings, and file organization. You'll develop a workflow that scales from concept sketches to finished illustrations.

  • Non-destructive editing practices
  • Custom brush creation
  • Texture and detail rendering
  • Export settings for different uses

How the learning actually works

Each week includes video demonstrations, downloadable reference materials, and assignment prompts. You submit work through the platform and receive written critiques from instructors within 48 hours.

Classes run for twelve weeks with approximately six hours of work expected per week. You can watch content on your schedule, but assignments have weekly deadlines to maintain momentum.

What you'll need to participate

  • Drawing tablet or iPad with stylus
  • Adobe Photoshop or Procreate installed
  • Stable internet connection for video streaming
  • Willingness to post work for peer review

The program assumes you're comfortable using basic software but doesn't require prior illustration experience. Most students have tried drawing before but want structured guidance to improve systematically.

Instructors work as commercial illustrators and bring current industry practices into lessons. Expect honest feedback focused on technical improvement rather than encouragement alone.
